Retrospective by Aidan Corish:
For the record, a review of all four matches is as follows:
We drew the first round KO v Barking 6-6 but lost on board count. This was an excellent effort for Upminster [av grade 171] against Barking [av grade 185].
We then beat Brentwood I [av grade 155] 8½-3½. Our team grade was 165 and we turned in a 176 grade performance. Again an excellent result.
We then had to field a weakened team [av grade 156] against an even weaker Roding team [av grade 138] and we should have done better than the 7-5 win we achieved.
Finally our 7-5 win against Basildon [av grade 161] was near to prediction as we had our strongest team[av grade 171] playing.
There were some very good individual performances and I will confine myself to mentioning those achieving plus 180:
- Jim was undefeated in all 8 games with a 189 grade performance;
- Martin was undefeated in 4 games also with a 189 grade performance;
- Les played top board in 6 games also with a 189 grade performance.I expected an even better result but Les had a heavy cold in the last match;
- Rob's 4 games gave a 188 grade performance.
