In
the Open, R6 contained a dramatic
finish as sole leader at the start of the round, Andrew Brett, lost
to Hugh Fenwick and saw three players charge past to win on 4½/6:
Hugh Fenwick, Andrew Lewis and Kevin White. The Essex
Rapidplay Championship went to Andrew Lewis on tie-break
over Kevin White. Andrew Brett had
the consolation of the North Essex Rapidplay
Championship.
A triple tie also occurred in the U160 where Sean Clarke, John Daugman and local interest Malcolm Kingsley all finished on 4½/6.
There was only a two-way tie in the U140, but also on 4½/6, when Geoffrey Bishop and Natasha Bogoda shared the honours. Natasha Bogoda is also the Essex Junior Rapidplay Champion.
If you want to win outright, you have to score at least 5/6, so says Adam Taylor, who did just that to win the U120.
