Correspondence Chess

In the 2004-05 County Correspondence Competitions, Essex entered three teams in the same sections as last season: Ward-Higgs, Sinclair and Minor Counties.

The Correspondence Match Captain is once again, Steve Abbott, who must be our longest standing officer. (Give him a chair, someone!)

Beaten into third place in the Ward-Higgs and second place in the Minor Counties, Essex honour was upheld by the second team in winning the Sinclair by a convincing margin.

Ward-Higgs: 1 Yorkshire 20½/26; 2 Sussex 18½; 3 Essex I 17½. 12 teams

Sinclair:  1 Essex II 17/26; 2 Warwickshire II 13½; 3 Surrey 13. 6 teams

Minor Counties:  1 Nottinghamshire 13/20; 2 Essex III 11½; 3 Somerset 10. 7 teams

Brown-Pond:  1 Leicestershire 9/16; 2 Lancashire II 8½; Warwickshire III 7½. 4 teams
