Congresses

The Congresses section features the principal congresses held in the County.  These cover the Association's own congress at Ilford and those at Southend (50th congress in 2006) and Braintree, the latter run by the North Essex League.  Each of these Congresses has its own Index, accessible from the navigation bar above.

The exception to this pattern is the Writtle "Congress" which in fact was a format within which were held the Essex Championships. Sadly, this is no longer, the Essex Championship and Essex U150 Championship being incorporated within the Ilford Congress.  The "Writtle" index, above, will give access to details of the 2001 competition.

Results of past congresses are available and forthcoming events are usually trailed here with entry form details, etc.

A new event appeared on the calendar in February 2007: the first Brentwood International Chess Congress which was a great success.
