Match Table

Writtle went into this evening's match at Ilford needing a tie or better to retain the Essex League Division 1 championship. Had Ilford won, the club could have taken the title on tie break by winning their final match away to Upminster on 6 May.

Writtle took the lead as a result of David Millward defeating Tom Barton.  Ilford hit back with a convincing win on board 2 by David Coleman.

In the final  position White was much better, but with both sides very short of time offered a draw in view of the match situation.  Moore v Donnelly was also agreed drawn and Writtle had achieved the tie that they needed.  Congratulations to them, but how Ilford must regret their loss at home to Waltham Forest.
