Essex Blitz Championship 2019-20

Inaugurated in 2016, this event at 5 mins + 4 secs per move increment (equates to 9 minutes per clock over 60 moves). The 4th Blitz Championship will be held at Wanstead House, on 28 September 2019.

NB Covid-19: The only event yet run in 2019-20 is the Blitz Championship. The remaining events, listed below, are officially “postponed” and may or may not be run. With the passage of time, as the end of the chess year (31 August) approaches, it is less likely that the 2019-20 incarnation of those events will take place. They will be resumed, probably as the 2020-21 events, when circumstances allow.

Essex Team Blitz Championship 2019-20

Teams of four, minimum of 7 minutes blitz. Date to be announced in due course.

Essex Lightning Championship 2019-20

For individuals. This is “buzzer” chess at 10 seconds a move, six rounds. When the buzzer sounds (every ten seconds) the player on move must make their move, not before the buzzer, not after. Good fun! Date to be announced in due course.

Essex Rapid Championships 2019-20

For individuals. Rapid chess at 20 minutes plus 10 seconds per move. Date to be announced in due course.

All of these events are ESSEX CLOSED events.
