There was no Essex League competition during Season 2020-21, over-the-board chess having been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
League Secretary for 25 years, David Millward, stepped down at the 2021 ECA AGM and was succeeded by Tom Barton of Ilford.
The new Essex League resumed on a smaller scale for the 2021-22 season, with the transfer of the League onto the
ECF League Management System; this was likely to be David's next step had he continued as League Secretary.
