SCCU U1650: Herts 6½-9½ Essex At Wanstead. Herts defaulted the away fixture between these two teams last season and by rule had to concede venue in this year’s match, which was therefore played at Wanstead. As this is a single round section, next seasons’s 2026-27 match is a home fixture for Essex, so Essex will have home advantage three season’s in a row, before the normal alternation of venue resumes in 2027-28.
In this year’s fixture Essex had the advantage of and average 149 rating points a board and it showed, Essex winning the bottom 10 boards by 6-3 and one draw, the top six boards being shared, 2-2 plus two draws.
