Kent lick wounds after visit to Wanstead

SCCU U2050: Essex 12½-3½ Kent
At Wanstead. Great effort today against an under-strength Kent, but nevertheless making the most of the rating advantage and pressing for those extra half points for a 9 point winning margin: 12½-3½. Kent took the early lead, Sasha beat the Kent skip to level and from then on it was plain sailing. – Mark Murrell

SCCU U1650: Essex 9½-6½ Kent
At Wanstead. By contrast, there was nothing between the teams in the U1650 match, but Essex made home advantage count in a fighting performance. The early results were cagey – three draws – before Essex drew first blood. This was soon cancelled out before Essex edged ahead again. After another two draws, Essex edged out a three point lead – crucial in such a close encounter – and while this was briefly reduced to two points, the three point margin was quickly restored.
