Essex Pascoe could not extend their winning streak to a third match, with a loss to Surrey Inter.

A match of two halves. Essex Pascoe outrated the opposition in the top half, the reverse being true in the bottom half. Surrey did the business in both halves to take the match by a convincing margin, though the scores would have been closer had the Webmaster on Board 1 avoided giving away his queen in time pressure from a winning position. The Games are given below.

Mark Murrell reports:

Essex Pascoe came back from a three point deficit to tie their match against Berkshire, 4-4, which was enough to maintain third place ahead of Kent Haddrell on tie-break. That was only achieved after a Houdini escape on increments on Board 1 by Andy Lewis, a stalemate swindle from Luoke Wang and excellent technique by Mae Catabay to convert her R + B v R ending after a middle and lower order collapse.
