No Southend Congress in 2021

Back on 13 March 2020 the 2020 Southend Easter Chess Congress was cancelled due to the impending situation with the Covid-19 pandemic. This decision was justified just four days later, when the country entered national lockdown. At that time, the organisers hoped to be able to resume the series of Southend Easter Chess Congresses in 2021.

However, as feared might be the case, a new wave is upon us and the Covid Alert level in London and the South East is currently Tier 4 -Stay at Home. The organising committee has therefore taken the decision that conditions are not safe to commit to resuming the series in 2021 and the Southend Easter Chess Congress will not take place in 2021.

It is earnestly hoped that, with the rollout of the vaccine in 2021, conditions will allow Southend to take place in 2022.

With wishes for a happier 2021. Stay safe.
