SCCU U1850: Essex 9-7 Surrey
At Wanstead. Surrey brought a strong squad to Wanstead and Essex rose to the occasion to secure the verdict by two points, with a stroke or two of luck along the way. This was enough to take a one point lead at the top of the table, after four matches.

SCCCU U1450: Surrey 7-5 Essex
At Cheam. Some good things to take out of this match, with wins for debutants Ralph Goodliffe and Drew Lawrence. Despite this reverse, Essex retain a one point lead at the top of the table after four matches.

SCCU Championships Essex head all four divisions in which they are entered. In addition to the teams reported above, Essex continue to lead the other two sections, U2050 and U1650, in each case tied with Surrey, with tie-break advantage in U2050.
